Pylos Methoni

Pylos and Methoni are two of the most precious gems in Peloponnese, each playing an important role to the history and glorious past of Greece. Over the centuries, they have starred as prominent hubs of commerce and economy and they are imprinted in everyone’s mind as heavenly retreats filled with nature’s bliss. A day trip to Pylos and Methoni will surely allow you to explore Greece at its finest, revealing their magnitude and special character.

On the one hand, Pylos or else known as Navarino boasts its long lasting history and is the birthplace of King Nestor. In Iliad, Nestor is referred to as the King of Pylos and recent excavations have revealed the ruins of his Palace. In the wider area, you will find some of the most marvelous villages in whole Peloponnese, such as Gialova with its rich flora and fauna, Schinolakka and Pyla. The Battle of Navarino is a battle remembered by both locals and history enthusiasts from all over the world.

On the other hand, Methoni is another splendid place of Messenia. Mothona is a mythical rock, which most likely named this magnificent village of Peloponnese. The emblematic historical castle of Methoni is the greatest attraction of the area, while you will also be blown away by the embroidered beaches like Kokkinia, Tapia and Kritika. Nearby there is Foinikounta, one of the most enchanting villages with superb beaches to enjoy.
